6 Ways to Boost Your Immunity During Covid-19

The Covid-19 or coronavirus has been declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization. As nations grapple with the imminent threat posed by this virus to humans, there are some important steps that individuals can take to combat the epidemic.

However, it is important to mention hygiene standards such as washing your hands frequently, especially if you are traveling on public transportation. Use an alcohol sanitizer to disinfect your hands, wear a mask (cover your nose and mouth), and avoid touching your hands or mouth. Some ways to improve your immunity are also paramount right now.

Individuals with pre-existing conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, and lung problems are more likely to have COVID 19 complications, which increase with age because the general immunity decreases with age. In the younger generation without basic diseases, if you have a strong immune system and do not engage in activities such as smoking or warping to fight the virus, you may develop a mild infection with COVID 19.

Here is a list of steps you can take to improve your immune system.

1. Enhance your food diet

The food you eat plays a key aspect in determining your overall health and immunity. Eat low-carb diets, as this will help control high blood sugar and pressure.  A low-carb diet will help slow down diabetes and focus on a protein-rich diet to keep you in good shape. And regularly consume vegetables and fruits rich in Beta carotene, Ascorbic acid & other essential vitamins. Certain foods like mushrooms, tomato, bell pepper, and green vegetables like broccoli, spinach are also good options to build resilience in the body against infections.

If buying groceries is not an option while keeping a social distance, you can take supplements containing omega 3 and 6 fatty acids for your daily dose. Some natural preventive supplements include ginger, amla (acid), and turmeric. Some of these superfoods are common ingredients in Indian dishes and snacks. Many herbs like garlic, tulsi, and black cumin help in boosting the immune system. Some seeds and nuts, such as sunflower seeds, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds, and watermelon seeds, are excellent sources of protein and vitamin E.

Probiotics such as yogurt, yogurt, and fermented foods are also excellent sources for revitalizing the structure of intestinal bacteria, which are important for the body to absorb nutrients. These are also good options for the older generation.

2. Have a good sleep daily

7-8 hours of good snooze time is the best way to help your body build immunity; Low sleep can make you tired and disrupt your brain function. Lack of sleep prevents the body from resting, which in turn interferes with other physical activities that directly affect your immune system. Insomnia adversely affects flu activity.

3. Stay Hydrated

Drink 8-10 glasses of water daily to maintain hydration. Hydration helps to flush out toxins from the body and reduce the risk of fever. Other options include juice from citrus fruits and coconut water to withstand the heat.

4. Exercise daily for a particular time

Exercise regimens should follow a good diet. Remember to exercise regularly; Light exercise will prove to be very helpful in expelling toxins from your body. It is recommended to exercise for 30 to 45 minutes depending on your stamina. If you have not yet started exercising, now is a good time to start. There are many YouTube channels and apps that help you exercise at home. Regular exercise improves metabolism, which is directly related to the body's immune system.

5. Relax  from all your stress

Staying home longer can affect your mental health. Another concern that is affecting millions of people around the world is the growing concern about the pandemic. Although uncertainty is extreme, there are certain steps we can take to help overcome it by constantly following our stress, and stress can adversely affect the immune system. To overcome all these stuff, it is better to start yoga and meditation daily to rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul. In addition, avoid the practices of using alcohol and smoking for being healthy. Last, not least, start traveling to refresh your mind with new beginnings and thoughts.
